A like-for-like replacement in the same opening usually does not require a permit. Anything structural (moving the stair, cutting a new floor opening, changing the rise/run) requires a building permit from your municipality. We coordinate permits as part of the scope when they're needed.
Recaps and straight stair builds typically take 4–6 weeks from signed quote to finished installation: one week for materials, two to three weeks in the shop, and 5–10 working days on site. Curved, floating or engineered-steel projects run 8–12 weeks. We give you a written schedule with the quote.
